This compensation structure allows us to offer plans with a wide variety of insurers in your area, giving you access to many choices and the advantage of our expertise.
We are seeing a worrying trend where health insurance companies are offering plans for enrollment but are no longer paying commission to agents. We have continued to represent some of those plans as a service to our clients even though we will not be paid.
The number of plans that do not compensate agents is increasing at an alarming rate. Sadly, this leaves us with only two options – 1) We work for free to provide you with the service you deserve, or 2) We are forced to stop representing the non-commissionable plans, which means we can no longer offer you a comprehensive, unbiased opinion of your best options. Ultimately, it means we are out of a job if this trend continues. We know how much most of you depend on us for help to navigate the confusion of Medicare.
We are telling you about this because we think this situation will alarm you like it alarms us. It has gotten worse despite our complaints to our Congressional Representatives and Senators, so we are now asking for your help. Please consider going to your Congressional Representative’s office to complain in person about how seniors will be harmed by health insurance companies refusing to compensate agents. Please call your Congressional Representative if you cannot go to their office. It may also be helpful to reach out to your Senators with a phone call. We urge you to leave messages so they can hear your displeasure. The more people who complain, the more likely something will be done.
